Soul Song & Remembrance : August 2026Remembrance • Grief & Aliveness • Monthly Circle • Women's Retreat Dear Reader, How are you faring in the intensity of these times? One practice I love, is to give myself the liminal time in the morning to put pen to paper and allow 15 minutes of creative free writing. Within this practice, I have fallen in love with a simple structure of Tanka poetry. The syllable flow is five, seven, five, seven, seven. This simple practice aims to bring a small gift of beauty or alchemy into the day. Here is today’s reflection, which is tinged with wildfire smoke sorrow and the woes of the world, as well as beauty and redemption. What is your daily practice to alchemize density? One thing that feels so true to me is to have the courage to feel the depth of our grief and then allow it to move through us so that we access the aliveness, beauty and Grace that is buried beneath it. TankaGrief and aliveness, I am apprentice to both. Sorrow’s threshold shows glimmering grace in marrow. My Soul sings love to all life. Grief is the sustained note of being alive. Grace is the marrow within the bone of sorrow. Every encounter is a threshold between loss and revelation. How do we tend the raw and tender paradox of these times? Recently I’ve been revisiting songs I wrote before becoming a mother. One in particular, That’s Alright, carries this dance of grief and joy. I wrote it while calling my daughter into this world, even as medical professionals told me it would take a miracle for me to have a child. That miracle came. She arrived as the child of my heart, followed closely by her spiritual twin brother, conceived on the very day she was born. Wild, magical, miraculous.
Listening again, I’m struck by the lyric “three crows take to the sky.” Many of you know I now care for three crows. Twenty years ago, my soul song offered an oracle for the life I am living today—a reminder to take what’s wrong and make it right through shamanic alchemy and amplified love. That lyric speaks to what Don Ivan Nunez del Prado of the Hatun Munay Andean tradition calls a twist of munay: transforming life through the power of love. I’m also deeply grateful to have the extraordinary Frazey Ford singing with me on this recording. I hope you’ll enjoy it. Community Monthly Circle: Dismember to RememberWednesday, August 19 22, 2026 If soul is trying to sing through you, what inherited patterns, trauma, or density may be muffling its expression? This month’s gathering is an invitation to consciously dismember what no longer serves so that we may remember our original coherence and soul song. Through shamanic journeying, we gently dismantle outdated beliefs and patterns, making space for the vitality and aliveness that longs to move through us. What is your soul song? How can you support your body, mind, and spirit to become a clearer instrument for it? Upcoming Community Monthly Circles

Here is the prayer altar we co-created together. Tending the altar daily with prayers, rattling and song has been a potent...
