May 2026 Newsletter

Dear Reader,

This is your monthly update with what is coming your way, a poem, some thank-yous, and sharing from ceremonies this past month. I hope you will join us for our upcoming community call, as last month’s circle was incredibly potent and strong.

I want to tell you a little about the circle we held on the theme of ancestors and leaning into Grace. Our circle was intimate but mighty, and our shared threads were strong and heartfelt. We named our ancestry as we knew it, and through prayer and sacred space created a container where words could flow and messages could arrive.

A primary theme that arose was holy rest and restoration, and how often, especially as women, we are in constant creation mode. This pattern of overproduction and pushing beyond our natural rhythm is causing harm to the Earth and harm to our bodies.

The frenetic response of an unregulated nervous system can launch us into an endless list of tasks to accomplish. From a shamanic or ancestral lens, we may see the soul contracts and energetic patterns that have us taking on too much. When we push beyond our capacity, our wise body begins to speak to us through fatigue, pain, burnout, illness, or crisis.

What if what is needed now, in order to meet the intensity of these times, is to radically slow down and be fully present in our bodies?

I know that my own body and being are calling for a slower pace, and yet taking what I call a “sacred pause” can be terrifying. Who are we without all we do? What is the value of our being-ness?

This brings me to our next monthly theme, where we will explore the potency of the void and how to enter these liminal threshold spaces from the center of ourselves: aligned, present, and open to receiving the profound regenerative darkness of the sacred feminine.

The courage and willingness to touch these spaces can bring deep healing and new creative energy.

What if the answer is not to do more and keep flinging ourselves at the mountain, but rather to be the river, strengthened and held by the land and mountain, flowing easily around stones and obstacles in a graceful, easeful meander?

Liminal Thresholds and Touching the Void

Spinning spinning spinning
Preparing my body as a loom.
Old beliefs, sorrow and pain
Fall away as the void threshes me
into a new becoming.

I call in my wise bright ancestors
To make of me a weaving
infused with the light of
stars, sun, moon, earth, birdsong,
water, rainbow- scaled fish, feathered wind borne wing,
glistening snow and mist rising early dawn upon the mountain.

May my heart meet the world, shimmering, gentle, bold, fierce, and full of love.
And may life pour through me and ignite me
As life meeting life.

I want to live again!
Again.
I want to live again.

Our May Topic: Liminal Thresholds and Touching the Void

The word liminal is derived from the Latin limen, meaning threshold. A liminal threshold is the betwixt-and-between state or space that acts as a transitional boundary. It represents an in-between phase of change, states of consciousness, and transformation.

Here we will explore how, through breath and somatic embodiment practices, we can lean into the spaces between the knowing and the unknowing. The liminal threshold holds great power for us, and touching the void can be an extraordinary recalibration and affirmation of who we are, where we are from, and why we are here.

Yuyari Pinkanki — Quechua for “Remember Who You Are.”

To be willing to touch liminal spaces is akin to a radical rebirthing of who you are. A result of this courageous willingness to be in full presence with yourself is a new harmonizing of your biology, your emotions, and your mind. You become the medicine, and in doing so you embody the harmony of what is seeking to express through you as your service.

Harmony does not mean perfection, but it is a balance of body, mind, emotion, and spirit. There can be a new stabilization that occurs when we slow down enough to receive the power and regenerative ability of the void.

Liminality is a crucial phase for personal growth and transformation. These states can often feel unsettling and uncomfortable, as they are like a waiting room between a past version of yourself and a new version of yourself.

A Prayer for Presence

Healing can only happen in the present moment, and so I invite you now to take a moment to call yourself into presence.

It is very important to call ourselves to be present many times throughout the day. Worrying thoughts, project deadlines, doubts, and fears that may be clamoring in our minds can overcome us and destabilize us from being present.

In the tradition, we say Humpuy as an invocation to call ourselves into presence.

Daily Healing Practice

Place your left hand on your heart and your right hand on your navel and say:

Humpuy, [your name].
Humpuy, Humpuy, Humpuy!

Feel all of your constellary parts arriving into presence within your body temple.

Take three deep breaths.

As you inhale, feel yourself expand with the power of Sami, the high-frequency energy.

As you exhale, sense and feel gratitude as an amplified power rippling out from your heart back to the Earth as an offering.

With your next inhale, pull in the bright light of Sami and feel yourself light up like a lantern. Allow this bright light to expand out on the exhale as a gift of gratitude for your life.

On the third breath, once again, amplify the potency of the inhale. At the top of the breath, inhale a little more, imagining it is the brightest, clearest, most clarifying and sweetest breath you have ever received. On the exhale, let the gratitude and love from your heart ripple out as a prayer of healing for yourself, for your family, for your community, and for the global community.

Next, work with this simple yet powerful prayer mantra:

I am here.
I am safe.
I am whole.
I am holy.

Repeat this three times and use it often throughout the day to anchor within your body, your intentions, and your actions.

This is a profound practice that can bring deep revelatory meaning and healing.

Share: Sail Away

Here is a song I wrote about liminal thresholds and “sailing” into the unknown territory of our own hearts.

Sail Away (Eva Tree, 2006)

Come away, come away,
Come away with me.
Out in a boat on the open sea
You the ocean and me.

Leave your worry, all your worry,
Leave it on the shore.
Out on the deck with the sun on your chest
You won’t need it anymore.

Sail away with me.
Sail all around my heart.
Through uncharted waters,
Sail us through the dark.

There will be storms, there will be danger,
Our boat will be turned and tossed.
But we’ll keep courage strong in our hearts
And we won’t be lost.

Our future is shining, shining, shining.
Our future is shining bright.
We know not where we are going
We just sail with all our might.

Sail away with me.
Sail all around my heart.
Through uncharted waters
Sail us through the dark

Sail away with me.
I’ll sail away with you.
Holding tight all though the night
Washed by the light of the moon.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Thank you to Earth Day Nelson for the opportunity to create an Earth Altar ceremony in honor of Earth Day. It was beautiful to build community and lift and gift our songs, intentions, and movement practices as prayers of healing for humanity and Pachamama Mother Earth.

Thank you also to Dandelion Festival and For-Rest Retreat for a vibrant community gathering over the Mother’s Day weekend.

It was such a joy to have my daughter Aiyana be my assistant for both the Roots of Ritual Song and Drum Circle, as well as the Despacho creation workshop. She has sat in ceremony with me since she was very young, so she brought grace and wisdom to the circle. What a gift for me to witness this, especially on Mother’s Day.

Closing Blessing

May we remember that the sacred pause is not empty. May we learn to meet the threshold with courage, tenderness, and trust. May we become the river, strengthened and held, moving with grace around the stones.

With Love and Gratitude,
