Ayni is often translated as sacred reciprocity, but it is much more than a concept. It is a way of living in conscious relationship with the seen and unseen world. In its simplest form, Ayni can be understood through the gift of receiving our first breath of life, and giving that breath back when our cycle on Earth is complete. In between, every breath gives us an opportunity to be in right relationship with the miracle of life. As Andean priests practice it in Peru, Ayni is not transactional. It is an energetic exchange between all of the human family, the animals, the plant kingdom, Pachamama Mother Earth, her elementals, the great holy mountain spirits, and the living waters of the oceans, lakes, and rivers that sustain life on this planet. Ayni is what keeps life alive. Breath exchanges oxygen. When giving and receiving are blocked, hucha — stagnation or heavy energy — can appear. When exchange flows, vitality returns. This is why, when you are generous, you give what you have with presence. And when it is time to receive, you can take what arrives with openness. Energy in motion is life expressing itself.
Voice AlchemyVoice Alchemy continues to evolve, and it has become a deep passion of mine. This work brings together over two decades of experience as a professional singer, two recorded albums, and my path as a Misa carrier. It is also a deep exploration of the power of Ayni as it moves through us as the living energy of expression. Voice Alchemy welcomes the voice as a beloved guest: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Through song, prayer, frequency, tone, and the elixir essence of sound, we explore the voice as a pathway for healing, embodiment, and sacred relationship. Zoom Details Summer Hours and OfferingsI will be taking July and August off so that I may cherish this last summer with my kids before they head to university. During this sabbatical, I will also be reconfiguring my offerings. Beginning in September, I will be offering one-on-one work from my home studio instead of the downtown sanctuary space. Mesa Munay mentorship, Voice Alchemy, and Shamanic Mentorship will continue throughout the summer, both in person at my home studio and online.
